Oat-Yog

UNITED KINGDOM - 2018

A vegan, oat-based, vanilla yoghurt alternative, with a ‘supergrain’ cluster topping containing recycled oats, puffed quinoa and sorghum wheat. The clusters contain cacao, cherry and almond.

At Oat-Yog we are mad about OATS! Oats have more soluble fibre than any other grain and also contain β-glucans which contribute to maintenance of cholesterol and may contribute to reduced risk of heart disease. Because of this we have created Oat-Yog: the first exclusively oat based yoghurt-alternative available on the UK market and, the only vegan on-the-go yoghurt-cluster style product. Oat-Yog is made up of a fermented oat base and an oaty ‘supergrain’ cluster topping. The topping contains oats, puffed quinoa and puffed sorghum wheat, as well as cacao nibs, dried cherries and almond, bound together with brown rice syrup. Oat-Yog is packaged in a single serving format, with recyclable PET packaging and a spoon, for easy consumption on-the-go. Oat-Yog is low in saturated fat and contains 1g of β-glucans which contribute to the maintenance of blood cholesterol. Additionally, because Oat-Yog is dairy free, the carbon emissions from production are lower than for dairy yoghurt. At Oat-Yog, we also use 100% British oats to reduce the energy required for transporting ingredients. We have also created an innovative use for our leftover oatmeal by utilising the waste from yoghurt production as an ingredient in the clusters; both utilising a waste product and also increasing the nutritional value of the clusters. Oat-Yog will be sold for a RRP of £1.60 and on promotion at £1.40 for the first 6 months.
